BHUJ
In Madhapar, near Bhuj, Kutch, we opened new facilities for children disabled by the Bhuj earthquake. On 3.5 acres of donated land we built a hostel for 200 children, a school, science lab, Braille library, medical and physiotherapy room and much more. There are a further 900 children throughout the Kutch region who are educated by us via our satellite centers and mobile classrooms. We also provide educational and fee support to around 300 girls at a school in Bachau, Kutch, which was destroyed in the earthquake of 2001.
THAMNA
In Thamna, we built a school building for 500 children – a joint project with Lions Club of Southgate (London). The idea is to provide free education, meals full medical check up. vocational training and farming. We are currently extending the primary facilities in the school to secondary level teaching in English Medium with a library and a science lab and a computer lab.
BARODA
In Malav, Panchmahal, near Baroda, we support for 750 children by sponsoring their fees, school uniforms, meals, books, and after-school tuitions.
SAVARKUNDLA
In Savarkundla, Gujarat, we are deeply involved with the Nividya Trust, with the objective of taking primary education to slum children. We teach them reading, writing, arithmetic and personal hygiene, based on a special course devised for slum children by Indian Institute of Management consultants. We plan to build another 5 schools in the area.
AHMEDABAD
In Ahmedabad we have a partnership with MST and Ahmedabad Study Action Group to work with street children, HIV orphans, neglected children of sex workers, tribal children and children of landless labourers, road workers and brick kiln workers.
